Ask VOM by Voice, Follow the Conversation, and See the Sources
Article
You hear something and want to ask about it, but you do not want to type the whole question. VOM accepts voice input for submitting a claim to verify, giving you a way to start with what you heard and continue from there.
Start with the claim you want checked
Use voice input to submit a claim to VOM. The claim might be something you encountered during an everyday conversation, while learning about a topic, or while working through a question of your own. VOM checks claims using web search and shows the sources it found.
That source list gives the conversation something concrete to examine. Instead of treating the initial response as the end of the exchange, you can ask follow-up questions about the claim or the information VOM found.
Continue with follow-up questions
VOM holds natural back-and-forth conversations for everyday questions, learning, brainstorming, writing, and planning. That means the first question can lead into a second question, then another, as you work out what you want to know.
For example, after submitting a claim by voice, you might ask for more context about the answer or ask about the sources VOM found. The conversation can move from the claim itself to the information that supports the response.
With a free account, follow-up questions build on the conversation. Without an account, each question is answered on its own. This distinction matters when you want to keep asking about the same claim: the conversation context is available for follow-up questions with a free account, while questions without one are handled separately.
Look at the sources VOM found
VOM shows the sources it found when checking a claim. Seeing those sources lets you inspect the material connected to the response and use your follow-up questions to explore the subject further.
VOM uses web search to check claims. It can also reuse a closely matching earlier check when a claim is not time-sensitive. In that situation, the earlier check may be used when it closely matches the claim being submitted.
